Privacy Policy
The short version
The extension collects no data at all. Every safety check runs locally inside your browser. Nothing you browse, type or click is ever sent to us — or to anyone.
What the extension does
Spam & Phishing Site Detector analyzes the address (URL) and structure of pages you visit to warn you about likely phishing or scam websites. All analysis happens on your device.
Data collection
- Browsing history: not collected, not transmitted.
- Page content: checked locally for warning signs (e.g. password forms on unencrypted pages); never transmitted.
- Personal information: none collected. The extension has no account system and makes no network requests.
- Analytics / tracking: none.
What is stored, and where
- Per-tab safety verdicts are kept temporarily in your browser's session storage and are deleted when the tab closes.
- Your "trusted sites" list (sites you mark as trusted) is saved in Chrome's sync storage, which stays within your own Google browser profile. We have no access to it.
Permissions explained
- Access to websites: needed to evaluate each page you visit and show the warning banner. Phishing can appear on any domain, so the check cannot be limited to a fixed list.
- Tabs: needed to read the current address and color the toolbar shield per tab.
- Storage: needed for the two items listed above.
